SAP expanding machine learning portfolio through Contextor
Right after acquiring Qualitrics, SAP announced taking over another company – Contextor.
The primary goal of this cooperation is to broaden SAP Leonardo Machine Learning portfolio. Contextor appears to be very helpful in this goal because of the spectrum of their services which covers mostly RPA (Robotic Process Automation).
Robotics Process Automation – now in SAP
The company handles R&D of Robotic Process Automation which covers implementation of bots automating business processes, using Artificial Intelligence (Machine Learning mostly).
SAP predicts that this acquisition will automate 50% of ERP-supported processes in the next three years.
In Contextor’s portfolio one can find success stories helping to achieve goals like:
- cutting the time needed for getting a credit card by a customer from 20 to 7 days,
- saving 30 seconds of a call with a client,
- reducing the time of handling one document in 3-4 minutes (the process was manual before) to 15-20 seconds.
Acquiring Contextor is another move toward smart business offering. One of the main goals in this collaboration is to simplify communication between SAP and third-party applications, making simpler user interface interactions across SAP and non-SAP apps and speeding up processing through RPA.
SAP claims that integration with Robotic Process Automation will be available from the first half of 2019.
Digital Transformation in SAP
Adding Contextor to SAP Leonardo Machine Learning is the next step towards handling digital transformation in SAP.
However, that’s not all.
SAP encourages its customers to move their systems to the cloud and has a very specific offer of products connected to it – starting from SAP Cloud Platform (in which data processing happens) to the systems operating particular business areas like ERP (through S/4HANA), SRM (SAP Ariba) and CRM (whole C/4HANA offering).
