TechKlub Poznan! Artificial Intelligence – a report
On 1st February, in the New Reading Room in Poznań, another meeting of the TechKlub Poznań took place. It was moderated by Jędrzej Osinski Ph.D., a University Poznań Adam Mickiewicz University IT specialist. In his research work Dr Osinski focuses on Artificial Intelligence. Apollogic’s Ilona Gumińska and Sylwia Zabłocka participated in the event.
Ilona Gumińska, Sales Manager at Apollogic:
“I was positively surprised by the simplicity of presentation of such a difficult topic as artificial intelligence. The lecturer showed practical examples, not engaging in academic jargon. I was surprised at the scale of the phenomenon of ever present artificial intelligence. I liked the natural interaction between participants of the panel.
The discussion was lively, and Dr Jędrzej Osinski showed how SI algorithms worked, using mathematical exercises. Participants also saw tangible evidence of the development of artificial intelligence – Alexa, a device from Amazon, which can be used to creating a smart home. ”
Sylwia Zabłocka, Marketing Specialist at Apollogic:
“Just like Ilona, I was surprised by the fact that so many devices use artificial intelligence, car ABS systems included! I came across SI applications. Some of them are used more for fun and capability testing, other are more practical. I recommend checking out the following:
- Cloud Vision API – a tool for analyzing photographs and detecting places where they were taken
- Quick Draw – neural networks to detect what item the user is drawing
Lecturers were able to vividly explain complex topics such as evolutionary algorithms. The lecture left the participants wondering about the direction of development of contemporary technology – whether it will be conducive to comfort, or development of mankind.”
The meeting provided the participants with new and interesting information related to artificial intelligence. The speaker refuted many myths and clearly explained the more difficult issues.
