New features and enhancements in SAP Analytics Cloud release for Q1 2023

Traditionally, as every quarter, we bring you the latest enhancements to SAP Analytics Cloud. In the following article, let’s take a look at the most exciting improvements to the all-in-one solution for presenting and analyzing corporate data from various sources, while the full list of what is coming can be found on the SAP blog.
Dashboard & Story Design
Sorting filter values
As of this quarter, sorting filter values in SAP Analytics Cloud has become more accessible and convenient for end-users. They can now sort values as follows:
- for dimensions – alphabetically,
- for dates – newest to oldest and oldest to most recent,
- in a custom order.
Sorting in filters is possible via Optimized Design Mode.

Data Exploration
Data Analyzer
Data Analyzer enables immediate data analysis and processing without creating a new model. The previous Data Analyzer has been rebranded as the classic Data Analyzer and can still be accessed from the file repository, which users are notified of as soon as they open the Data Analyzer tool in SAP Analytics Cloud.

The new Data Analyzer brings many functional improvements, such as:
- presenting of ID and description for dimensions in the table in two separate columns,
- single-level filters (the widget filter has been removed),
- selecting attributes from the list of available objects (Builder Panel),
- updates to the filter dialog box for dimensions, e.g., checkbox.

SAP Analytics Cloud add-in for Microsoft Office
Overlapping content and using multiple models in a single sheet
This quarter, an interesting enhancement to SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office, is the new feature that allows placing multiple tables on a single sheet. The concept of overlapping content has also been introduced. However, before the data is loaded, a message warns that the existing Microsoft Excel content will be overwritten/overlapped.

Creating formulas in new rows or columns
Users can now fill new rows and columns with formulas they have defined.

Enterprise Planning
“Redistribute Equally” recommendation for the Planning Panel
From the first quarter of 2023, the capability to equally redistribute value is a default recommendation in the Planning Panel.
