Inflation and the rising cost of doing business are taking their toll on many organizations. Probably running a business, you have also noticed that a similar problem applies to the various types of licenses we use in our companies, which are often the basis of daily processes. As a result, in addition to high costs, compromises have to be made because a given tool does not always meet all our operational needs. Until now, the alternative was to create our own tools, which, however, entailed a large initial investment.
So how to solve this problem today? Low-Code and No-Code technologies, such as Power Platform from Microsoft, come to the rescue. In this article, we’ll show how we streamlined our processes with Power Platform and explain why we at Apollogic didn’t need new licenses to do so.
Why Power Platform? Benefits of Low-Code and No-Code
The use of No-Code and Low-Code technologies, such as Power Platform, makes it possible to quickly deploy the needed applications. These technologies allow the use of a user-friendly editor and the creation of applications using drag&drop options, which dramatically speeds up application implementation time. In addition, these technologies are supported by ready-made components and integrations with existing systems. This allows us to see the effects immediately and validate them with users. The biggest advantage is the ability to create an application that exactly meets our business needs and is tailored to our processes. You no longer have to adapt to what external applications offer!
The best part is that you probably won’t need new licenses. If you’re already using the Microsoft environment and applications such as Outlook, MS Teams, SharePoint, and the widely used Excel, you have sufficient licenses to get started with tools such as Power Apps for application development and Power Automate for process automation.
Service Desk that meets your needs.
There are many tools available on the market that can act as Service Desk applications. So why not choose a solution that has already been developed? As Apollogic, we were faced with the decision to change our previous Service Desk ticket application due to the yearly increase in the price of licenses that were underutilized.
After analyzing the available options, it became clear that the long-term cost of creating the application internally would be less than paying for monthly or annual licenses. What’s more, the process will eventually be tailored exactly to our needs.
The application development process took two weeks to complete, which consisted of:
- gathering requirements from the business,
- designing the frontend and backend,
- preparing the entire environment on SharePoint for data storage,
- testing of the application by testers as well as end users.
The entire application was developed fully using the Microsoft Power Platform environment and is now running successfully in our company.

Tired of managing business travel through emails?
The most commonly used “application” for various types of processes is… e-mail. Who among us doesn’t use e-mail for purchase requests, onboarding management or accounting for business travel?
We decided to change that! We created an application that allows employees to report planned business trips and managers to accept or reject them. The department that accounts for business trips now has all the information and documents in one place. This streamlines the entire process, and in addition, the use of Power Automate for automatic reminders to add documents after a business trip, means that the billing department does not need to remind employees about this activity, which saves time for everyone involved.
